I had an idea while I was watching a video chat between two lovely ladies: Ciler, from Newsletter Circle, and Lindsay Johnstone, who is one of those people who has grown her Substack from scratch. As have I. The thing that she does, or did, I should say, was that she offered those readers who have 5 Stars beside their names — which means that they actually read your stuff regularly — and she gives them a complimentary “Membership” to her Substack.
I like the idea of a “Membership.” I like it so much in fact, that I’m going to call my Paid Subscription page, a Membership page from now on. Only those who have paid the $30/ yearly fee (Remember that’s 8¢ a day!) but only those readers will receive Membership. Now, to sweeten the pot, let’s throw in the only FREE copy I have of my novella THE BASHFUL COURTESAN. If, at the end of the three month trial you decide that you want to join the membership, you name goes into the hat and there is a free draw. And I’ll do it live. I just wrote it on my desk calendar.
Now, if you’re wondering why you didn’t receive this offer, it’s because you don’t have five stars beside your name. I will be sending an offer out to those who have four stars, but that won’t be until next month. Imagine, you could have a free copy of a novella that has the potential to be something. Beatrice Potter self published her Peter Rabbit books. Could you imagine having one of those? What about THE MARTIAN? There are a lot of books that became something after they were published, and this could well be one of them. But if you don’t subscribe for a Membership after the three month trial is over, your name doesn’t go into the hat.
Tomorrow, at Noon, here on the Left Coast, (that’s 3:00 pm ET) I’ll be reading THE PROLOGUE to my Serial THE SHIELD OF LOCKSLEY. If you want to join in and listen to both part one and part two, sign up. If you received an email saying you have a free 3 month Complimentary Subscription, then it’s FREE for you.
I hope some of you drop in. You can ask questions if you want — but I don’t know if I’ll be able to answer them as I’m reading, so I might have to look at them after.
