It’s time once again for the PAYWALL entry of my Substack…
I have to admit I have fallen behind, but not as bad as you might think. I started writing a little piece on the NOTES section here on Substack — pretty sure if you’re subscribed you should be able to access it. It’s a fantasy page. Now, I like fantasy. It’s good old fashioned escapism. What’s not to like about that? I haven’t been putting the posts on my Substack page because I don’t want to overwhelm you with endless emails. I think two a week are good, and the every once in a while SCRIBBLES about the mill…I promise I’ll get back to that, I just want to know what day you want me to put it up? (Only for the paywall I’m afraid.)
I want to thank all my new subscribers over the last week. There’s every possibility that I could hit another milestone by my birthday, and if not mine, certainly the wife’s — and barring any real bad luck, Murray’s by the 20th. It shouldn’t take that long to get 43 subscribers.
Once again, I’m going to ask you to go PAID…
I’m going to ask you to go paid, because, well, I have new subscribers who haven’t heard my pitch yet. I’ve found a printing company up here on the Left Coast, in Vancouver, who will print up copies of one of my stories from the SUNDAY’S SHORT STORIES AFTER EIGHT — the story I’m reading out loud in case you don’t know. I have a total of 18 PAID subscribers, but three of them are “compted.” (I’ve gifted them for special reasons.) I need about 70 PAID subscribers. If you pay the $30 (Can) a year deal, and you live in the States, that’s about $22 (US). That’s literally, pennies a day — a little more than a nickel.
The idea is to print up a novella, or novelette, and mail it to you. All you have to do is drop me a post card, with your return address. I print up 100 books, send away to those who subscribed, and probably sell the rest on a street corner somewhere in downtown Vancouver. Probably close to the waterfront where the cruise ships dock. (Tourists are always an easy mark they say.)
Anyway, the story as it goes so far is pretty interesting…
We finally meet the antagonist. A Russian patriot who once tried to save the Russian Royal family by mounting a daring rescue that was two days too late. A White Russian living in England, he is the last remaining heir to a banking Empire and determined to see the newly established Union of Soviets defeated.
