After spending the day preparing the house for kitchen renoes next month, I’ve decided to put out another story. IN DAYS OF VAST DARING is my Arthur story. I grew up reading King Arthur stories when I was a kid. Prince Valiant, Le More d’arhtur, Idylls of the King, Men of Iron, The Mists of Avalon. What’s not to like about King Arthur? For some strange reason, I’ve purposely been avoiding Jack Whyte’s Arthur books. There’s no reason for it, except that once upon a time I wanted to write a book about a young knight who comes to Camelot. I didn’t want to be influenced. But I never wrote that story, and instead settled for my dragon story.
Sir Grummore Grummerson is my knight’s name. I told you about him before. He’s old. 82. He’s traveling around the countryside with his grandson, Ector, named after his good friend, Ector de Maris, the third greatest knight in Camelot, after Launcelot and Tristan.
