I’ll be putting up an entry in a little while. Another Chapter in my JACK OF DIAMONDS. I like to put it up as close to Midnight that I can so you’ll have it first thing in the morning. Today, I spent most of my day trying to work things out and figure out how they’re supposed to work, until I finally figured them out. (Does that make any sense?) I’ve put links to every separate part of my stories on the bottom of the page. So, if you want to SHARE a story, it will have a link to the next part of it. Now, when I was writing JACK OF DIAMONDS and posting it on VOCAL.MEDIA, I put little footers at the bottom of the page, telling readers if they wanted to be a character in the book, all they had to do was leave me a tip. Two people took me up on the offer. I say this, because one of those people who happened to give me a tip, lucked out when I was introducing a lead female character. The irony was that she gave me the smallest tip possible, but it just so happened to be one of the biggest parts, the way it was working out. SONIA NAZAR, is the female lead inspector. She’s also a girl I went to elementary school with, and hadn’t seen in, what, forty years? (Isn’t Facebook grand! Love to go out for lunch and have a few drinks to catch up Sonia!) I feel I may be obligated to give her a free paid subscription because she’s already paid her way in, and today we introduce her character. The other person who gave me a tip, well, I’d already used his name as a character. He was just supposed to be the butler at the door, an in and out and repeat if necessary kind of role. But he gave me the maximum tip, and then became a paid subscriber on this page as well.
So, if you want to be a character in the book and have your name in print, SUBSCRIBE to my page and become a PAID subscriber; I’ll put you in as a character. You don’t get a say as to who your character is, though. He/she might be a good guy, or a bad guy. Might even be a $2 whore, who knows? But buying your way into the book also lets you leave comments as to how you think the story should go, because it’s not complete. It would’ve been done by now, but I had that incident at work and stopped writing entirely while I tried to get my head together. I think I’m there now. I mean, I started writing a story (I’ve got 7800 words so far), so things are looking up. I’ve been told I’ll have to go back to work though, with a tentative date sat at around Nov 8th. But the Company might not even let me return to work because it’s a NEW company, and I’ve yet to work for them. Apparently, I’m still on the books with Interfor, because it’s their WCB claim. If that be the case, (I mean if the new company doesn’t let me work), I’ll be on compo until I retire in January.
Now that I’ve finally got my groove back, now, finally, after 10 months I can write again, but I have to go back to work. So the last two months of the year will be utter chaos because I’ve signed up for the NaNoWriMo, which is a writing challenge wherein you’re supposed to write a book in one month. They suggest 65,000 words, which is about the size of THE BASHFUL COURTESAN. That works out to about 2160 words a day. I don’t feel that’s long enough and was hoping to do about 2800-3500 words a day, because I thought I’d have the time. That will give me about, or close to, 100,000 words. That’s about a 350-370 page book. But will I?
2800 words in 8 hours is doable. 2200 words in 3-4, not as easy, but still doable if you have it all plotted out…which I don’t. Still, that’s only 66,000 words; a 220 page book. I know I want to write something about the Golden Age of movies. The silent era. I even had a title, which is why I thought I could do it. HOLLYWOOD GOTHIC. I just don’t know what it’s about. Could be a problem. I guess we’ll know after the first day.
Anyway, if you want your “name in lights”, so to say, spend the $5/month and help me write my book. It’s 3/4 of the way done, or maybe it’s only 1/2…? Who knows?
