As you all know, this is PAYWALLED…
I tell you that right up front, because there’s nothing worse than reading something and then finding out that it’s paywalled when you get part of the way through, reading it. I don’t like it, and promised myself I wouldn’t do that to my readers.
I DO however, put up these little introductory pieces where I sometimes tell you what you might have missed or not, by not being a PAID reader. I don’t always do it, because sometimes I forget. But when I do that, I usually fix it by bringing the PAID readers up on what’s happening because, well, they’re paying for it, aren’t they?
That being said, where are we…?
Oh yes, PART THREE’s, First chapter, which is divided into 10 parts. Each one is a short piece — a larger of the whole — probably running close to 2000 words each. This one is shorter for whatever reason. (I don’t know, maybe I was lazy?) But at the end of PART TWO, Lamorak spoke up and accepted Eleanore’s plea for a boon from the King. He volunteered to go out on a Quest to help free her father’s Keep, which was under siege of a Knight he swore he slew years ago.
Locksley is despondent over losing Gwenellyn because of the wiles of Morgana LeFay who has procured her son’s marriage to her, by manipulating Lamorak. He goes to see The Boys, hoping to talk things over with Geoffrey, who is sitting in bed nursing the empty spot where his leg used to be. He notes that Palomides has left the Castle, and The Immortals, his two men-at-arms, have gone off in search of him.
There are a lot of characters in this story, and it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea of I made a list of who’s who for the reader to follow along. The Immortals, who are the Men-at-Arms to Palomides, have names; as do The Boys, who are the Men-at-Arms to Grummer. And there are secondary characters who show up and then bow themselves off-stage, only to return again later. It’s a huge undertaking because I’ have to go through the entire story and write down the names of every character I come across — from Brennis, Locksley’s Squire, to Elsbeth, the Brothel-Keeper at The Red Lion. It’s a good way to refresh one’s memory starting a little side project like that, and I suppose I will have to, just to sort things out.
Also, in the new year…
I’m hoping to add another feature here: video vignettes. Oh, I think I’ll call it VANCOUVER VIGNETTES! I’m thinking I might release them on Fridays, but behind the PAYWALL. They’ll be short “travelogues,” shot in and around Vancouver. I want to use the wife (well, that just doesn’t sound right saying it like that, does it?) I want to make it funny, and up-beat, but I have to warn you: she doesn’t always talk like a lady. Some of you who know her, will probably think it’s a good idea, as she’s funny, witty, and well spoken. (They call her “Trucker” at her work.) She will be a welcome addition just being here, but is hesitant to join because of her job position in the Gov’t Liquor store she works in. I told her the Gov’t isn’t going to know, because they’d have to buy a Subscription in order to watch her.
In time, we might get to do interviews with local celebrities. This is Hollywood North, so you never know. I’m hoping to get enough to fill in a half an hour, and hope to start off with one show a month, and then maybe twice a month as we both figure out what we’re doing. It will mostly be about FOOD in Vancouver, because we’re both Foodies, and Vancouver is known for its food.
Let me know what you think, and…
In the meantime, let’s get started with PART THREE of the book, shall we?
