THE PORTAL CLUB…

And yes, it’s still paywalled…

However, yesterday I gifted 170 complimentary “memberships” to the top readers on my ‘Stack. I emailed all the “5 star” readers and gifted them with a 90 day complimentary membership so they can slip in behind the paywall. Today, I don’t know if they’re still there. Someone told me that she couldn’t access my live post today, even though I’d gifted her just yesterday. Now I’m wondering if it cancelled everyone. It’s starting to look like that might be the issue. Of course, that makes no sense to me at all. If you received an email from me telling you I gifted you, let me know. Is it still there? Or was it a one day gift? I need to know so I can sort it all out in the morning.

And if you’ve been paying attention, you may have noticed I’m now calling it a “MEMBERSHIP” rather than a Subscription. The SUBSCRIPTIONS are for the FREE part of my ‘stack. If you read STORIES, AFTER EIGHT, you will have a Subscription. This place behind the paywall, is now THE PORTAL CLUB. I could have called it “Scribbler…something,” but The Portal Club just seemed to pop into my head, so I’m going with that. My Substack is STILL called SCRIBBLER — A PORTAL TO FICTION, but the stuff behind the paywall is going to be THE PORTAL CLUB, and for that, you need a “Membership”. The membership is still only $30 (Canadian) for the year (and yes, that’s still 8¢ a day.)

And why did I do this?

I gave 90 day complimentary memberships to 170 of my readers, because these are readers who are engaged with my ‘Stack. They don’t have PAID Access to The Portal Club. I want them to be able to read the complete story of THE SHIELD OF LOCKSLEY. Everything that I do in the Portal Club, will be for them alone. I want them to see what I have to offer. The weather’s getting better now, and it’s almost time for me to head out to the city and look around with you. I want to do readings of this story every Tuesday, at High Noon here on the Left Coast. This story will be completed by the end of October. Hopefully, I will be able to grow my page (I still call it a “page” for some strange reason.) I want to put out videos, not only of my readings, but everything else I can think of.

It doesn’t look as if THE CELEBRITY DINER is going to be a “thing.” It seems that the hostess has become something of a diva and has locked herself in her trailer and isn’t coming out. So I have to try something different. Besides, I’m not getting a lot of feedback with the “celebrity” side of things out here.

So, just to get things straight…

The FREE section of my ‘Stack is still: STORIES, AFTER EIGHT. It will ALWAYS be free.

The PAID portion is now THE PORTAL CLUB and requires a Membership. It’s available for $30 for the year, or, if you just want to look around, $10 per month.

It’s my hope that some of the free guests in The Portal Club will take up residency there. I don’t expect “everybody” will, but…well…I guess we’ll just have to see what comes of it.
