THE EVIL THAT MEN DO
I know I said I wasn’t going to put something out all the live-long day…but it’s THROWBACK THURSDAY, and that’s pretty well the only time I have to put up old stories that no one reads anymore because it’s either locked in the ARCHIVES behind the Paywall, or they just don’t think about looking there.
I wrote THE EVIL THAT MEN DO back in May of 2023 when I had a whopping 171 Subscribers and felt on top of the world. I couldn’t believe I had that many people who were Subscribed to me, and reading me as well. But…it took me a while to realize that just because someone is subscribed to you, it doesn’t mean they’re reading you. Either way, 170 people is lot of people, any way you look at it.
So the story is set in Italy in the 60’s. It was set in a part of Rome close to the Vatican because we’d stayed in a small B&B there the first time we went to Italy back in the days before Covid. It’s what you might call a coming of age story, with a layered history. A boy, together with his aunt and mother, as well as the land lady who lives upstairs. I like it because he discovers things about himself, just as much as he does the people around him. Like I said, a layered story…
