As some of you know, I’ve been trying to generate Paid subscribers here so I can print my novels and sell them as hardcovers. THE SHIELD OF LOCKSLEY clocks in at 258, 766 words. That works out to 515 pages, single spaced.
The book is finished — and has been for a while. As of next week, it will be the last chapter, and after that, there’s a short “epilogue.” And then it’s done. Finished…on to the next serial, JACK OF DIAMONDS.
A lot of you here haven’t read THE SHIELD OF LOCKSLEY. A lot of you don’t want to buy into the idea of picking up a paid subscription, and I get that. I do. In fact, I totally understand. I can’t afford to buy a lot of ‘Stacks and support the writers I want to, and it’s a pain in the ass. But, be that as it may, as they say. So I’ve decided to make this story available as a PDF.
And what does pdf mean? Portable Document Format. So that means I put my story up for you to purchase and read in its entirety. I plan to sell it for $9.95 where you can download it from my site here.
I don’t have all the details worked out yet. I have to figure out how all that works, and I’m not the most tech-savvy. I also have to sort out how the payment works, but it’s something along the lines of a button you hit, generating a payment into my Stripe account, and then you have access to download the file.
$9.95 is the standard price for a PDF download for a novel of about 350 pages. This book is a little over 500. Do you like a good long book you can read on your phone as you commute into work? Or maybe sit up in bed and read it on your iPad as you sip on a cup of coffee, and maybe eat breakfast because someone has decided you need to be spoiled? We could all use a little spoiling these days.
Let me know if you’re interested why don’t you? You can always gift it to someone for Christmas, or maybe a birthday? Why not?
Oh, I would absolutely read it
I think a pdf format might be a good idea. I know other Substack writers have done it. $9 seems cheap. People pay that much for a cup of coffee these days. It is a great story. I myself, however, won't be buying it Ben, as I have been reading Locksley for over two years! These knights and thugs have worn me down. ha ha ha. I wish you the best of success!
