Jesse and his son, David rose from The House of Judah which was the Tribe composed of the seventh son of Jacob; Juddahah and his half brother, Benjamíns descendants. Are you perhaps entranced by this greatest of anointed Kings; David of Israel who God claimed had his own heart and promised to send the Messiakhah through? The same David proficient with the lyre writing the Songs of worship and prayer to God?
To have given thought and imagination to this phenomenal battle placing family among David as he attends the Israelite Soldiers and practices with his sling every day...It's simple to imagine you've been a fascinated at some times with this character as I.
Am going to read it again before sleep...Really a terrific effort for a 'Flash Fiction'.
I approached this differently. I remembered the title of a book when I was younger: FIVE SMOOTH STONES. I loved that line and remembered it. Then saw the "David" and understood what the guide meant when he said you could see David looking off at the first sight of Goliath...but the last scene has to be his brother watching David pick up the five smooth stones, and then David sees him, and stands, the stones still dripping...
Not many courageous enough to try-on the shoes of other people; especially chosen of God. Too much expected and not willing to give. Really like your writing. Enjoy the earthiness and chosen phraseology. Sort of remind me of Hemmingway. Blunt and to the point with few words having much meaning.
Really enjoyed this. Loved that you used Bernini’s David instead of Michelangelos. Think he seems more boyish and therefore fits with your telling all the better.
I love this story. We should all be like David and face our problems head-on.
Instinctively chose this one to start with. Glad I did, very interesting!
I'm glad you liked it.

Everybody already knows how it ends.
Glad you liked it though.
