I leave my stuff for free. If it drives some readers to give a look at published short stories, that's great. I know that when the story is in a mag people have to pay for (even a measly 2$ eBook), the vast majority of them run to the hills. It's sad, but it's a fact.
You've been at this longer than me. I just started posting in March. I can already see it's a hard slog, building up an audience, and beyond that, "converting" subscribers to sponsors, or founders, or whatever.
I'd be interested to learn if your approach works. My preference is to make it all free too, but I also feel that I should give paying readers something extra. Such a conundrum!
Well, I'm thinking don't want to leave the story up for just 7 people to read. If they want to pay because they feel I deserve it, well, how good is that for the ol' ego?

Thanks. I told myself I'm in this for the long haul. I believe, if the writing is good, the readers will show up eventually.
