Oh no! Thank you for that intro and sorry you messed it up! You're human, let the story speak! I have days like that when one word, sentence trips you and all you do is start over! You've got this!
"You go sit in the waiting room with Angie and Russ. You don’t have to listen to us adults talking. What we have to say is none of your business.” Oh, man! Family dynamics! In a family that large, there are bound to be a few assholes. Russell!? I'd slap him myself.. I mean if I were a slapper. I feel for the poor boy narrating the story, trying to navigate through all the words and silent gestures. You have made me more thankful for having only seven people in my family, and all of them normal, kind, sensitive human beings. Fine writing here, Ben!
Thank you so much Sharron. I'm glad my brothers weren't like Russell, and even more happy about the fact that I didn't have to base him on one of them. As the youngest, the oldest three siblings didn't have to look after me as much as the "middle" brother who was 6 years older than me. We go out for breakfast once a week, still.
Well THAT was quite the introduction! So many familiar names there. I hope you stick around and catch up! I hope you eventually up-grade and read my serial novel as well. I think you might like it here.

.. this my second read here.. aside from some spot glances at the lay of the land..
Loved the first.. This is far different .. like it on a completely different level - no surprise
Need a bit more ‘time on the water’ here..
Haha.. yes.. pure serendipity (she does attend me mischievously.. with her great pal ‘happenstance’
both are complete delight. Yes.. you mentioned the BC Lions.. now there’s a clue to myself as well
I have an astonishing connection re Vancouver by way of Banff, Alberta & the Hamilton TiCats
If you have a spare moment.. touch base & I’ll introduce you to Nat Bailey - Founder - White Spot Restaurants
& yes, Herb Capozzi - The Keg founder & GM of the BC Lions - 1964 Grey Cup winner
Both play heavily into my unedited Fiction Novel - Diamond Walker which is hiding within my eclectic substack gallery
But I’m still in ‘the learning curve’ (I know it well.. that curve) re the ‘mechanical / management’ aspects of this platform
while spotlighting other Artists, Artisans, Creatives .. I came here with ‘purpose’ at 72.. haha - bearing gifts to share !
But I was also ‘lurking online’ before there was ‘the mouse’ or even an Internet.. yes ‘i speak newbie’
.. but my talent if any ? Astonishing Curiosity.. and I was gifted as was my big sister, both of us orphans
abandoned somehow on the Toronto Islands with the unstoppable power of ‘reading’ & phenomenal ‘visual memory’
& here I am on your doorstep.. the curious cat, el gato of the nine lives.. enjoying the moment courtesy of Happenstance
& yes siree - Serendipity always there in the somewheres like tinkerbell or ‘better angel’ that just won’t quit..
