I just finished writing THE END on the last page, last night. I predict, that you are going to love me and hate me as you continue to read this. The tragedy that comes in the story, comes unexpectedly.
I just finished writing the last page of the last chapter for the book last night. I'm quite happy with how it ends, because it leaves it open for a sequel. It's not a cliff-hanger with the idea of someone being in peril, it's more like a natural progression of events. It's not a happy ending, because it follows Mallory's storyline. If you know what happens to some of the characters, you can sort of see the timeline, and how it works. I think the next one will follow Tristan's storyline, and if you know your Arthurian legends, you'll know it's not a happy ending either.
And now I get to go right back to the beginning and start a quick edit. I'm supposed to cut back on words, I always end up adding more.
I know how these "quick edits" are. I'm like you, going in to slash some words and end up adding details that balloon the word count! Even so, happy editing!
I wrote down what I started with, thinking I might control this beast, and have already added 128 words, just with the prologue. I’ve only got 52 more chapters to go!
Many of us here have that disadvantage. But we also see some of them overcoming it, which gives me hope. But, being older than some of this crowd, we have to get on the stick if we want to see wider success.
From romance to bloodshed in one paragraph! Yeooow! Your descriptions of the landscape are so visually detailed. Excellent.

Oh no.
Oh no!
Just following the story line...
Great ending to the chapter! Those sons of Lot are so aggravating!

Wonderful! And congratulations!

You'll have a door-stopper before you know it! I'm looking forward to reading the rest of it, no matter how many words it ends up being.
I guess I should be looking into self publishing, because I doubt if any publishers are going to want to take a chance on a complete unknown.
