Superb descriptions of the landscape, Ben. And I could see and hear the bare, broken bones of the city. Excellent. ( Please consider giving fair warning for the chapters that may be gory or explicitly cruel....)

No, there's no gory descriptions of concentration camps or that sort of thing.

Remember, it takes place on three different time lines. Stories of what happened during the war as much as how they survived and what they had to do to survive, as well as the beginnings of a crumbling society -- not that I'm that deep or intended to write that sort of story. It's only in hindsight that you see these things after having written them. (At least, for me.)
